Taking Out Old Stuff
Old stuff day |
It’s funny how a single book or paper brings back alot of memories. In these few weeks into the month of december I and my sister decided to re-organize our room and take out old stuff we didn’t need that just occupied space, it was more of books by the way, textbooks, note books, novels, and magazines etc.
Alot of books were discovered real old books that dated back as at 2008, 2012, etc. I recall my sister saying “you have so many books” well when you’ve schooled for 4years you should have quite a library you know, was my response😉
We took out time to pick out the books one after the other in other to place them correctly and I saw books dated back to my Senior secondary years in school and for my sister as far back as junior high I had a habit of writing things at the back of my notes same did my sister, we laughed at the silly things we wrote, tittle of books I had written down to read that I never read, I enjoyed reading books growing up. I could spend a whole night reading.😉
I found pages I had written what I planned to write for jamb, what credit units I’d like to get in my WAEC, simple and heart felt little prayers I made, I saw a page where I had written hurtful words someone dear said to me that I took time to analyse. 🤣 I even stumbled on resolutions I made for a new year it was laughable 😁 and in an instant memories flashed through my head, I remembered how naïve and ridiculous I was. 😁
Taking Out Old Stuff (antiques) |
I recalled all the good times I had, all the big dreams and big plans I had, a flip through the pages of these old books showed me a picture of who I was and who I’ve always been and at some point I missed the old me, I miss the old me that knew nothing about how tough life could be or how big plans and dreams don’t always work, wishing I knew some of the things I know now and how life can twist things around. I was alone in my head, thinking about what was and what could have been, then I snapped out of it.
I’ve realized that no matter how tough things may seem you shouldn’t loose yourself, no matter how things have turned around you shouldn’t stop dreaming or working towards your plans.
because the difference between average people and achieving people is their perception of and response to failure.
And just like we’ve heard,
Errors become mistakes when we perceive them and respond to them incorrectly. Mistakes become failures when we continually respond to them incorrectly. John C. Maxwell
When we fail we should fail forward looking beyond the failure because it is a price you pay to succeed. Better years are ahead and life is fully before us and we shouldn’t stop climbing the mountain because there are rough edges but because we have a destination.
Have you had write ups and books remind you of so much?
Are you still working towards who you’ve always wanted to be?
Do you take out old stuff?
