Key life lessons I learnt in the month of march
The month of march is a great one for me because it taught me a big lesson i won’t be in a hurry to forget, hey guys it’s been a while i wrote, work and all of it’s consuming stress. Life Indeed gives us lemons and we have no option but to make lemonades out of it, i was served a quarter full cup 😂 It’s crucial to learn lessons and applying them without having to experience them, The month of march indeed taught me a great lesson just as we recount experience as the best teacher. It’s not actually the best teacher, it’s better to learn with out passing through the pain that comes with experience and often times the lesson taught is not learnt.
A key lesson i learnt is that perfection is not a peak we climb it’s the failures and successes that we encounter that bring about perfection or mastery.
You know a lot of things are said casually or habitually but in reality the experience it’s actually deeper than it seems. When we see perfection or mastery of a thing as a height we must attain we end up injuring ourselves when we beat up ourselves for every single mistake we make we water down our self esteem.
Striving for perfection can burn you out.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.” Steven Tyler
Lessons Iearnt this year
1. Be kind to yourself:
this is much needed as being kind to others, sometimes we often forget that we need a little of kindness to from ourselves not others, firstly because we give out the energy we carry and also in bad days we can console ourselves. We we forget to do this most we end up breaking down our self esteem.
2. Be Patient with Yourself:
I’m actually still learning to be, being hard on yourself can be productive but not as productive as when you give yourself time to grow and understand that you are in the process of growth. This point actually necessities that we know the kind of person we are and understand the phase we are at life because it helps you with how you handle yourself at different points in time, patience is required for growth to be fully birthed.
“The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.” Marcus Aurelius

3. Perfection is not a peak we climb:
This has become my latest motto, i always repeat it to myself. Don’t strive for perfection, this may come out weird but i say this in the Light that you should be more concerned with growth and learning because these actually bring to perfection, so leave pursuing perfection as a goal in what we are learning or doing with time you’ll see how close to perfection your are, the journey is more important than the destination, live and let live.
We must be willing to fail and to appreciate the truth that often ‘Life is not a problem to be solved, but a mystery to be lived.'”Scott Peck
4. Failure and imperfection is a path to success
Failure is simply an opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” Henry Ford
Often times when we fail at a thing or make mistakes we think it’s a closed end for us but truth is failure, mistakes and rejections are what prunes to success but firstly is to accept the fact that these are paths to success, in all sincerity it’s difficult to comprehend or assimilate i find it difficult to accept but the things i encountered on my journey to perfection taught me to change my mindset and begin to embrace the notion but it actually burnt and i still feel the pains.
“Failure is the foundation of success, and the means by which it is achieved.” Lao Tzu
5. Life is simple, we make it hard
These phrase might be so casual or simple but it’ll have a deeper meaning when you get to cross roads like i did, in a bid to succeed and achieve we put end up putting ourselves in a state that we can’t actually see how hard we’ve made life become for ourselves, yes there will always be pressure and their will always be things to achieve but we choose how we want to go about it, when we pursue or goals or live life with this ideology when it gets hard we change our perspective which helps to see better solutions to solving the problem or better ways to achieve a desired result, it’s a gradual consistent process and I’ve come to understand that it’s actually simple it’s a matter how we choose to perceive things which affects how we act and react to given situations.
Every day has it’s own stress already, living in Nigeria compounds to it, making life easier for yourself in the process of achieving lefts burdens of your shoulders and helps hold you together so it doesn’t break you.

“Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself in your way of thinking.”
Marcus Aurelius
6.Make Self care paramount
At the end of the day if you break down emotionally or physically everything you are trying to build, attain or achieve won’t be possible. La santé vaux mieux que la richesse (health is wealth) as we say in french it cannot be over emphasized, you have to be healthy to be able to do do all these.
The bible says love your neighbours as you love yourself, you have to love yourself enough for the love to even over flow to those around you, If you don’t treat yourself to good life you wouldn’t know how to do same to others,
Take care of yourself, from your diets, to your physical health, appearance, self concept to emotional health everything that makes you feel good and confident in yourself, get those things you want that you keep putting of but doing for others it makes you have a luxurious mindset, you feel rich and happy that you can get these things for yourself, look nice, smell nice
To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.” Oscar Wilde
feed your mind with the right information, sometimes take a break from everything else, use it to reflect, think on how you are going about things and how you’ve treated yourself and adjust, self care is important a physically and mentally healthy person is more productive for themselves and the society at large,
“One thing you can’t hide – is when you’re crippled inside.” John Lennon
Every single point i mentioned above are things I’ve begun to subject myself to because i know see how important it is life is really simple we make it hard or the society helps make it even harder but we can’t change the society we can only begin to restructure ourselves then it rubs on the society, change has to start from the inside then out. Worrying about failure, mistakes or perfection doesn’t create much change but thinking how to better work at things makes it easier, just as Albert Schweitzer said:
“Eventually all things fall into place. Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moments, and know everything happens for a reason.”
Welcome to the first quarter of the year.
